An Interview With Fernando Gandaras
How many years have you been selling travel?
Since 2016, I have had the privilege of assisting with and being actively involved in organizing travel for both groups and individuals from various companies. While some of these travel arrangements have been business-related, the majority have focused on sightseeing, leisure, and sports events.
What are your hobbies?
I have a strong passion for outdoor sports, with a particular enthusiasm for soccer and skiing during the winter season. As a result, I pursued professional certifications in both fields: I am a certified Soccer Coach in British Columbia and a Ski Instructor with the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA). During my time in college, I participated in a program called "Work & Travel," which afforded me the opportunity to ski and explore various renowned resorts in the United States, such as Vail and Park City.
Although I no longer engage in regular participation, I continue to enjoy watching high-quality tennis and basketball matches. Additionally, when physical travel is not possible, I satisfy my desire for exploration through reading and attending films, allowing my mind to wander to new places.
What type of resort activities do you favor? ie water sports, lounging by the pool, etc?
I'm definitely a fan of both outdoor and indoor activities. I love sightseeing and exploring new cities, and hiking in the woods is something I find very refreshing. But when I need to relax, I can easily spend the day lounging by the pool or the sea too while listening to music or reading a book.
What are your favorite destinations?
I have had the privilege of visiting numerous remarkable destinations, each of which I have thoroughly enjoyed.
Being born and raised in Argentina, I hold a profound connection to South America and its many hidden treasures. I have also traveled to several states in the United States, both for skiing and for relaxation. Italy, in particular, holds a special significance for me, given my family’s heritage.
While I relish the opportunity to explore new places, I must admit to having a particular fondness for all-inclusive, tranquil beaches, whether they are located in South America, Mexico, or the Mediterranean. Furthermore, I have a deep appreciation for multicultural cities such as Buenos Aires, New York City, London, and Tokyo. These vibrant metropolises, with their dynamic nightlife and endless activities, hold a unique charm.
I also have a passion for visiting theme parks around the world, with a special affinity for those in Orlando and Los Angeles, which I enjoy returning to regularly.
However, the country that left the most lasting impression on me is undoubtedly Japan. As a lifelong anime enthusiast, visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka was truly a dream come true. I eagerly look forward to returning and continuing to explore the rich culture and history of Japan.
