In October, I visited the Dominican Republic, flying via Toronto with connecting flights. For travelers from Western Canada, flights may be longer, so plan accordingly. Upon arrival in the Dominican Republic, customs will verify all required entry documents. It's always a good idea to double-check the latest requirements with your travel agent before departure. After landing, transfer representatives were easily visible outside the airport, efficiently guiding us to the correct bus. I spent my first two nights at Occidental Punta Cana, a beautiful resort with an open and airy reception area. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were incredibly helpful. My room was spacious and recently updated, with a modern bathroom. As expected from an all-inclusive resort, there was a wide variety of activities to enjoy, several pools catering to different interests, and plenty of space to relax. The beach was absolutely stunning, with palm trees, powdery sand, and warm ocean waters—the perfect tropical escape. Next, I explored Occidental Caribe, another all-inclusive resort known for being family-friendly and budget-conscious. With a water park for kids and a wide sandy beach offering plenty of water activities, it’s a great option for families seeking fun and relaxation.I then headed to the capital, Santo Domingo, a vibrant cultural and business hub. While there, I visited two hotels. The first was Barceló Santo Domingo, ideally located near popular sports complexes and arenas, making it perfect for athletes or concert-goers. The second was the luxurious El Embajador, a Royal Hideaway hotel. This prestigious property has hosted heads of state, celebrities, and royalty. Set in a quiet area, it offers breathtaking ocean views from its higher-floor balconies. After my time in Santo Domingo, I returned to Punta Cana for two nights at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace, part of the expansive Barcelo Bavaro Resorts. The complex includes the adults-only Barcelo Bavaro Beach resort. Whether you're seeking a variety of dining options, from buffets to fine dining, or entertainment that spans golf, bowling, live shows, and more, this resort has it all. Onboard the Koningsdam of the Holland America Line, I embarked on my first journey to the waters of Alaska. If you live in the Lower Mainland, the Alaska cruise experience is a hassle free holiday. The voyage begins by boarding the Koningsdam docked in Canada Place. You just need to download the Holland America Navigator App along with creating your account with photo ID and uploading your passport information. By doing this, you will speed up customs processing and boarding the ship. The Alaskan cruise is a relaxing and lay back vacation along with exciting sightseeing. Experiencing the beauty of the cost and serenity of the ocean is greatly appreciated from a booked balcony cabin. Granted the relaxation, it's best to prepare for the unpredictable breeze through the regions of Alaska with snow capped mountains along with lands of glaciers. To prepare for the unpredictable weather while traversing the coast, it's best to bring hats, mittens, and a waterproof attire for venturing onto the glacier landscape. Holland America Line has very interesting ports of call in Alaska. The cruise visits the unique Glacier Bay which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ship docks in close proximity to the center of towns in which you visit. This gives you opportunity to explore the area on your own if you decide to. The vast variety of shore excursions will keep you occupied in the areas you are visiting. More over, the cruise provides exceptional level of services and world class entertainment. The cruise line has very satisfactory dining options. You will find cuisine from around the world which caters to a variety of deity needs. My Alaska cruise experience was extraordinary! Without a doubt, I am looking to sail with the Holland America Line once again!

The one week all inclusive holidays in Puerto Vallarta started on direct Air Canada flight from Vancouver. Flight left on time and it was a quick 4.5 hours. When we arrived, Air Canada representatives were waiting for us at the airport arrival exit with easily visible signs. They welcomed us kindly and directed us to a mini shuttle which took us directly to our resort. We stayed in Dreams Villamagna at Nuevo Vallarta. Resort is perfectly located with direct access to the beach. The Lobby was spacious, perfectly located with easy access through the resort. Rooms are modern, specious, each with a balcony and jacuzzi. For your comfort rooms are equipped with AC and ceiling fans. Room service and daily housekeeping is at your desire. Resort staff is very friendly and caring. Resort had endless daily activities which would carry you into good quality night shows and entertainment suitable for all ages. Reservations are not required into speciality restaurants. Plenty of dining options including 24-hour caffe will make you stay relaxed. Moreover, there are no wristbands required during your stay. In addition, you have the ability to book local tours through the resort tour desk or your Air Canada representative. For guests staying longer than a week I would recommend visiting other AM Resorts in the area with exchanged privileges.

During that trip I flew from Vancouver to Warsaw via Amsterdam airport which is extremely easy and hassle free. There are many areas where you can easily relax, waiting for your connecting flight. In Poland I travelled to places with no airport nearby but has well organized transportation of private bus companies which connect airports with many smaller cities and towns around the country. These busses are equipped with AC, Wi-Fi connection and are inexpensive. In recent years Bialystok has become a modern city with a growing number of hotels, inns and restaurants.  The city is an important political, educational and cultural centre of the Podlasie region. Many universities, polytechnics and medical schools attract students from around the world. Natural beauty and unique history bring thousands of tourists every year. In recent years, the region developed hundreds of kilometres of bike roads and trails, which grew in popularity among locals and tourists alike. It’s also a beautiful sanctuary for bird watchers. On the way back to Canada I connected my flight through Paris Charles De Gaul airport, which was busier and bigger than I expected. Air France service was exceptionally good.

Waikiki Hawaii Is one of my favourite destinations. The direct flight from Vancouver takes about 6 hours. At the airport you can rent a car, which we usually do or take a taxi or shuttle straight to your hotel. During the visit we stayed at Aston at the Waikiki Banyan. It is conveniently located just two blocks from the beach and one block from Kalakaua Avenue, which is conveniently close to restaurants and shops. The hotel offers large swimming pools, tennis courts, kids’ playground, and a spacious deck with barbecues and tables for your party. Our one-bedroom apartment had a fully equipped kitchen, living room, separate bedroom and large balcony with a stunning view of Diamond Head peak and the ocean. The rented car became extremely useful, allowing us to do countless trips to different parts of the island and to see landscapes and visit endless attractions. Some must see are the Polynesian Cultural Centre, the beaches of North Shores, Hanauma Bay Snorkelling, Sandy Beach, Kuala Ranch, Pearl Harbour, Lolani Palace and more. To really get a taste of Hawaii you will need a few lengthy visits.

The 2014 trip to Poland was incredibly unique but sadly too short. On that trip, I flew on Lufthansa via Munich to Warsaw. Flight was smooth without any delays. After a week visiting my family and friends at the hometown of Bialystok, I took a train to visit historic Krakow. I stayed there for three nights in the Ascot Hotel. It is a boutique style hotel, perfectly located from Old Market just a five-minute walk and a seven-minute walk from the train and bus station. The hotel is located on a quiet street surrounded by churches and gothic architectural buildings. Rooms are spacious and modern. Hotel offers a daily buffet and breakfast for your convenience. Staff is friendly and helpful to answer any questions you have. They spoke a few different languages. The old Krakow is a jewelry to be discovered. It has so much to see, visit and experience. The Old Market Square has so many museum’s, galleries, gothic churches and synagogues. You will need a full day to explore a unique shopping and dining market. The Old Town of Krakow is only accessible by pedestrians. For a unique experience, you can take a ride in a horse carriage on the Royal Trails. A must visit is the Royal Castle, which was once reside by Polish Kings and Queens. Another historic destination which you can not miss is the Wieliczka Salt Mine, a World UNESCO Heritage. This one-of-a-kind experience is not found anywhere else in the world, which is a must see. My three-day visit ended quickly by catching a return flight from Krakow via Munich to Canada. It was noticeably short but a sweet visit.
