An Interview With Tina Kennedy

How many years have you been selling travel?
I have been lucky enough to be selling travel for 10 years in both leisure and corporate travel. Tina is a graduate of the Travel and Tourism program.

What are your hobbies?
Apart from traveling the world, I enjoy spending free time outdoors and trying to keep fit while doing it. Mountain biking, hiking, swimming, kayaking, running, camping and getting out and exploring the world is what I enjoy most.

What type of resort activities do you favor? ie water sports, lounging by the pool, etc?
I try to mix it up from day to day at a beach resort. I really like doing it all. A busy day of watersports one day followed by a relaxing day by the pool or long walk on the beach. I like going off the beaten track and mixing with locals. I'm always on the look out for the less touristy spots. I love exploring and seeing where life takes me.

What are your favorite destinations?
I most enjoy being on a lake in the mountains, so Canada is by far my favorite destination. I love the Kootenay Rockies in B.C with their quirky laid back towns like Nelson, Kaslo, Fernie, and Nakusp to name a few. There are pristine lakes, hot springs, and endless mountain trails to explore to keep me busy for a lifetime. I don't feel Canadian's explore their own nation as much as they should. We really do live in the most beautiful country in the world. My favorite international destination to date is South Africa. There are so many different variety of animals and plant life and scenery to enjoy. The food and hotels are out of this world. Not to mention some of the most beautiful beaches, mountains and scenery. Enjoying a Sundowner was a favorite way to end the day of sightseeing whether on safari overlooking the Savannah or at your hotel pool overlooking the ocean. My experience there was nothing short of spectacular!

What languages do you speak?
Only English, and a few phrases in French, but maybe Spanish in the future? A work in progress.

New Zealand - 2018

Incredible mix of mountains and beaches. One of my favorite countries I've visited. Will definitely go back in a heartbeat.

South Africa - 2014

Loved loved loved this country! I'm not sure where to start. The people, animals, food, scenery, mountains, beaches, amazing accommodations, plant life, history, languages, stunning beach communities and wine all first class! Restaurants are inexpensive and the quality is to die for. There truly is something for everyone in South Africa. Just go!

Mexico - 2013

Mexican food is my favorite and there's so much to do here. Its a huge country to explore. Try the Mayan Riviera for the turquoise Caribbean sea and the West coast areas like Los Cabos or Huatulco for a more Mexican flavor, the city of Monterrey has amazing mountain vistas, and Guadalajara is a diverse city with rich history and architecture. Such a diverse country. It's a shame it gets a bad reputation from the news.

Jamaica - 2012

Jamaica has made a lot of effort to make their country's roads and cities safer so it's much better than in the past. I feel safe here but still intimidated walking alone in some major cities like Montego Bay so stick to the small tourist towns near your resort. I Recommend Negril for the 7 Mile Beach (best in the country). With only one international airport for such a large Island transfers here can be long to certain areas so make sure to check . The all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica have much better food than some other Islands and there is a good variety of tours to book.

Barbados - 2011

I enjoyed Barbados very much. Quiet Island with white sand beaches and turquoise water. Swimming with the turtles is a must here. The Caribbean west coast has the clam turquoise waters and white sand beaches while the east coast Atlantic ocean is rocky and wild and great for surfers and for those who prefer the rugged landscape. All inclusive's are not necessary on this Island as long as you are in the right area and are self catering. Restaurants can be pricey here on the Canadian/US dollar as most visitors are on the GBR Pound, but the quality is very good. Renting a car is easy and worth it to explore the Island for a day or two. The Island is very small so it won't take long to explore, but its perfect for enjoying the beaches, and of course the Rum Punch.

Just wanted to send you a quick message to tell you how pleased we were with our recent trip to Greece. Everything was well organized. The hotels were fantastic and in great locations. The hotel we stayed at in Mykonos, Greece was probably one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed at. Would definitely send people there!

Bob and I have returned from our tour of Ireland. This was a wonderful trip and experience. Thank you for recommending it and helping us through the difficulties last year with Bob's injury and onward to Ireland this year. We really appreciated the extra day at the front end. Malahide is a lovely seaside resort! Many groups on golf tours were present. We are recommending this tour to all of our families and friends. We saw and experienced so much. Our driver and tour manager were fluent Irish speakers and knew the country very well. This provided us with a total experience of history, culture, language, music, song, humour ect ect ect! We had a great group with us and we are forever friends.

Alaska Cruise Tour

Wanted to thank you for helping us book our vacation to Mexico. The resort was beautiful. They upgraded our room when we arrived. The food at this resort whether at the buffet or a restaurant is fantastic. The staff and chefs went out of their way to accommodate Kim’s dietary restrictions even making her special meals. We had a wonderful time and came back "filled" with sun, sea water, and many great memories. Collectively we decided it was likely the best all-inclusive resort we've been to; my daughter was positive it was the best she's ever seen while I am a bit undecided between last year's trip to Bahamas and this one :o) But it was great, no doubt, so thank you very very much for patiently stitching together our vacation from so many different destinations.

Hi there, just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our trip to Mexico. The Occidental Grand was fantastic. The food was good, the pools were outstanding, the drinks were great, and the activities close to our resort were great as well. The weather was 90+ the entire time we were there. I think I have the darkest tan I have ever had... lol. We are already planning for a possible return in December that we may need your help with. :) Thanks for all your help.
